Light Reading to Avoid Getting Pw0n3d

With the average survival time for an unprotected machine coming in at under 10 minutes, I’ve traded in my late night fiction reading for stories of hackers and their exploits.

I figure it’s a fun way to learn something about  securing my web based business before I launch. In no way is this a substitute for learning how to secure my code, it’s more of a supplement than anything.

My current reading list:

What’s This All About?

This will be the 2nd blog I’ve started, the first one I started sometime last year. It’s a very different blog than what I started with partly because I didn’t know what I was doing with my blog or business back then. I probably still don’t; although I feel pretty confident that I do.

My plan is to use this blog as a place to write about software development, starting a business, launching my first product and anything else I might feel the need to write about (random stuff).

About Bidsketch

My first product is called Bidsketch. It’s proposal software aimed at graphic and web designers. I chose this as an initial product because I have a good deal of experience in both writing and reviewing proposals. So I figured I’d put that experience to use and maybe make a few bucks along the way.

Who Am I?

My name is Ruben Gamez and I’ve been doing software development professionally almost 10 years now. I started out with C++ and got into web development after that. I’ve now switched gears and have started focusing on starting my own Micro-ISV (one person business) and launching my first product. I plan to own several products and businesses, but there’s no telling how things might change for me in the future.
